Skill x Swap for organisations

Your people know more than their job titles suggest.

Think about the experience, interests and knowledge already sitting within your organisation. Skill x Swap gives people a way to share it — and learn from each other.

Two ways to bring Skill x Swap to your people

One platform, two distinct offerings

Workplace

For employers & teams

A private, invitation-only skills-sharing community for your employees. Colleagues discover the knowledge sitting across teams, share what they know, and learn from each other — across roles, departments and seniority.

  • A private community for employees, arranged directly with us
  • Community membership, exchanges and wallets stay separate from Global activity
  • Discuss invitations and membership setup with us — organisation setup is not self-service

Programmes

For cohorts, courses & initiatives

A dedicated private community for a defined cohort, course, initiative or programme. Participants learn from each other, contribute what they already know, and keep exchanging skills throughout the programme — and after the formal sessions end.

  • Built for charities, learning providers and organisations running cohorts
  • Participants draw on the same shared Skill x Swap skills catalogue
  • Peer exchange keeps working between sessions, not just in them

Both use the shared skills catalogue and exchange foundations that power Global. Community setup and starter-credit allocations are agreed directly under your organisation’s contract; members do not purchase credits personally in these communities.

The experience, step by step

What life inside a private community looks like

An illustrative walkthrough of the member experience — the same journey members take in the Global community today, inside a community that's yours alone.

  1. Join the private community

We arrange community membership with your organisation. Discovery is limited to active members of that community.

  2. Add skills to share and learn

Each member lists what they can teach and what they'd love to learn, drawn from the shared Skill x Swap catalogue.

  3. Discover other members

Discovery surfaces colleagues whose offers and wants genuinely fit — the same matching that powers the Global community.

  4. Arrange reciprocal exchanges

Members message, agree the details, and meet online or in person. Two-way swaps are always free; one-way learning uses credits.

  5. Build a Skills Passport

Every completed exchange adds to the member's Skills Passport — a lasting record of what they've learned and shared.

The value of peer exchange

Learning that was already there, finally moving

Make existing knowledge accessible

The experience already inside your organisation becomes something people can actually find and use.

Peer learning, not just formal training

People learn from each other directly — practical, personal, and paced around real work.

Contribution from every corner

Skills sharing crosses roles, backgrounds and seniority. Everyone has something to teach.

Connection through shared interests

Exchanges build relationships between people who might never otherwise work together.

Privacy & trust

Professional communities, personal boundaries

Workplace participation is deliberately kept apart from members' personal lives on Skill x Swap. That separation is structural, not just a promise.

Separate community activity

Workplace exchanges and wallets are scoped to that community. Members use one master skills profile, rather than recreating their skills for each community.

Personal stays personal

Joining a private community does not automatically join a member to Global. Community membership alone gives no access to another member’s private swaps, wallet history or messages.

Conversations stay private

Messages between members are private to the people in them. They are not visible to employer administrators.

Getting started

Let's talk about your organisation

Organisational setup isn't self-service yet — and that's deliberate. Tell us about your workplace, cohort or programme, and we'll discuss what Skill x Swap could look like for your people.

Questions organisations ask

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Workplace and Programmes?

Workplace is an ongoing private community for your employees — a standing space for peer exchange across the organisation. Programmes is a dedicated community for a defined cohort, course, initiative or programme, built to support peer learning for the life of that programme.

How is Global activity kept separate?

Members have one identity and master skills profile, with separate community memberships and wallets. Joining Global is an explicit choice. Organisation membership does not give administrators access to private Global exchanges, wallet history or messages.

How do members join a private community?

Private communities are invitation-only. We arrange invitations and membership with you directly as part of organisation setup.

Do participants need teaching qualifications?

No. Skill x Swap is peer-to-peer: people share what they genuinely know, from languages and crafts to spreadsheets and public speaking. No formal teaching experience is required — just willingness to share.

How do reciprocal swaps and credits work?

When two members can teach what the other wants to learn, the swap is reciprocal and always free. When learning is one-way, the learner spends 1 credit and the teacher earns 1 credit — the credit is reserved at request, and the teacher earns it only when both members confirm completion.
